IoT Week just passed, and has been proved one more year as a flagship event for Europe’s IoT community. IoT Week is an annual event organized by the IoT Forum since 2011.
This year’s edition of IoT Week took place in Aarhus, Denmark, where NGIoT project coordinator Martin Brynskov is based. Brynskov has been an active member of the IoT Forum since the beginning and in collaboration with the President of the IoT Forum Sebastien Ziegler and member of the NGIoT Consortium, and also Monique Calisti, member of the IoT Forum and NGIoT, the project had a strong presence in various important sessions and discussions throughout the event’s week.
“It was a pleasure to support IoT Week that took place in Aarhus, my hometown, this year.”, said Martin. “I’m proud that this edition of IoT Week turned out to be the biggest yet and that we were able to invite citizens – from school children to senior citizens – to the IoT Week Public Expo to discover the Internet of Things and what it means for them.”
Taking advantage of the participation of the NGIoT members -the key speakers and panelists as mentioned above and also the rest project partners that were in Aarhus to support other activities and workshops- NGIoT was present in all areas covering and supporting:
Two NGIoT booths
One in the expo area in collaboration with the LSP (Large Scale Projects) projects, promoting the main role and objectives of NGIoT in the domain and one in the public area, where a fortune wheel and a photo booth were available for the visitors to play and learn around the NGI and IoT concepts, tools, ecosystem, technologies and main achievements.
Especially in the public area, where citizens were allowed to enter without registration, it was impressive that NGIoT booth attracted numerous and a great variety of people from different ages, social groups and with different perspectives, experiences and concerns around IoT, showing great interest on the main concepts, views, stakeholders and running activities in the domain, spending time and discussing with our Communication Team members.

Beyond these activities, around 20 IoT community members were invited to share their first impression to the question: “IoT for What?”, which will contribute to the making of a video piece with humans at the center and how different people from different backgrounds and domains are facing IoT today and beyond. The video is expected to be published the following days.
